Terms of Service

These terms explain how quote requests, orders, payment, delivery, corrections, and service limitations are handled.

Version 1.0 — Effective July 2026

1. Service provider

Chancellor Translations is operated by Dejan Arnautović, an independent freelance translator based in Belgrade, Serbia. Contact: translations@chancellortranslations.com.

2. Scope of service

Chancellor Translations provides Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, and English translation, certification, and language-support services for immigration, court, legal, business, academic, and civil documents.

The service is primarily prepared for US use. For Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, EU institutions, or other non-US receiving authorities, the client must confirm whether a local court-appointed sworn translator, notarization, apostille, or other format is required.

3. Translation only; no legal advice

This service provides translation and certification only. It does not provide legal advice, legal representation, immigration advice, court representation, or legal strategy. Nothing on the website, in email, in the Tally form, or in delivered translation materials should be treated as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.

4. Quotes and order confirmation

A quote is issued after the document, purpose, language pair, deadline, and document condition are reviewed. Quotes may depend on length, legibility, formatting complexity, handwriting, seals, tables, urgency, and whether additional review is required.

No work begins until the price, scope, and delivery estimate are confirmed and payment is received, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Client responsibilities

The client is responsible for providing clear and complete files, all pages, all relevant instructions from the receiving institution, correct name spelling preferences, deadlines, and any requirement for notarization, apostille, sworn translation, or special format.

If a source document is unclear, incomplete, damaged, cropped, handwritten, or missing visible seals, stamps, signatures, margins, or page numbers, a better copy may be requested before work begins or before certification.

6. Delivery

Completed translations are normally delivered by email as signed PDF files. Other formats may be discussed before work begins. Delivery dates are confirmed at quote stage and may depend on prompt payment, document clarity, and timely client responses.

7. Turnaround and rush work

Standard and rush timelines shown on the website are typical ranges, not automatic guarantees. A firm delivery estimate is provided with the quote. Rush work may carry an additional fee and is accepted only when availability and document complexity allow.

8. Corrections and revisions

One correction round is included for clerical issues, spelling preferences, institution-specific formatting, or reasonable corrections reported within 7 days of delivery.

Changes caused by new source documents, changed instructions, additional pages, unclear original scans, altered deadlines, or new receiving-institution requirements may require a new quote.

9. Acceptance by institutions

Translations are prepared according to the information provided and the certification format commonly required in US filing contexts. However, final acceptance is always controlled by the receiving office, court, agency, attorney, school, employer, or institution. Chancellor Translations does not guarantee acceptance by any third party.

10. Payment, cancellation, and refunds

Payment confirms the order and reserves the delivery schedule. Because translation work may begin shortly after payment, paid orders are generally not refundable once work has started.

If work has not started, cancellation may be considered on request. If the project cannot proceed because the document is illegible, incomplete, outside the agreed scope, or requires a service not offered, options will be discussed before work continues.

11. Confidentiality and documents

Documents are treated as confidential and used only for quote review, translation, certification, delivery, correction handling, invoicing, and recordkeeping. Documents are not sold, published, or used as samples without permission.

Privacy handling is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Third-party tools

The service may use third-party tools for intake, file upload, email, WhatsApp communication, and payment. The current quote and upload form is hosted through Tally at https://tally.so/r/b5y5v0.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Chancellor Translations is not responsible for institutional refusal, legal outcomes, filing deadlines missed due to late client submission or delayed client response, consequences of incorrect client instructions, or source-document defects not visible or disclosed before translation.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version and effective date above identify the current terms.
