Chancellor Translations ("the Service") provides translation of documents between Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, and English, together with a signed translator's certification of accuracy and competence. The Service is provided by Dejan Arnautović, an independent freelance translator based in Belgrade, Serbia ("the Translator").
The Service provides translation and certification only. It does not provide legal advice, legal representation, immigration advice, or any guarantee of acceptance by any court, agency, institution, or office. Nothing communicated in connection with an order constitutes legal advice.
Every document is reviewed before a quote is issued. A quote states the price and delivery date and is fixed once issued; it does not change after payment. Quotes are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise. An order is confirmed, and work begins, upon receipt of payment.
A standard translation page is up to 250 English words or approximately 1,500 characters with spaces. Vital records and immigration documents are priced per document (additional documents in the same bundle at the standard vital-records rate); court, litigation, and business work is quoted per page or per project, with stated minimums. Rush pricing: 48-hour priority is billed at 1.5× the standard rate, 24-hour rush at 2×, and same-day or weekend delivery is quoted individually (typically 2×–3×). Orders of ten (10) or more documents receive a 10% discount. Accepted payment methods: PayPal, bank transfer, and Paysend. Invoices and receipts are available on request. The Translator invoices as an independent freelancer.
Published turnaround times are typical ranges, not automatic guarantees. The delivery date confirmed in writing at the quote stage is binding, subject to the client providing legible, complete source material and timely responses to clarification questions.
If a translation error is attributable to the Translator, it is corrected free of charge with no time limit. Preference-based changes (for example, name-spelling choices or institution-specific formatting) are covered by one correction round within seven (7) days of delivery. Re-execution or supplementation of court declarations after delivery requires a separate written engagement, except where the correction is due to Translator error.
Translation and certification confirm the accuracy of the English (or target-language) rendering only. They do not verify, authenticate, or validate the source document itself, its origin, authorship, signatures, seals, or legal effect. The Translator does not confirm that any source document is genuine, unaltered, or properly issued.
The Service reserves the right to decline any order, before or after review of the material, without stating a reason. Any payment received for a declined order is refunded in full.
The client is responsible for: providing complete and legible source material; confirming the requirements of the receiving institution (including any notarization, apostille, or original-document requirements); providing official name spellings (passport, ID, prior filings) where consistency is required; and reviewing the delivered translation promptly.
Documents and personal information are used solely to complete the order. Files are retained only as reasonably necessary for recordkeeping, correction handling, and legal compliance, and are deleted upon written request. Files are not shared with third parties beyond what is required to complete the order (for example, payment processing or, where separately agreed, an independent second review). See the Privacy Policy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Translator's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with any order is limited to the amount actually paid for that order. The Translator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including delays, rejections, or decisions of any receiving institution, or for errors, omissions, or false statements contained in the source document as provided.
If work has not begun, cancellation entitles the client to a full refund. Once work has begun, refunds are at the Translator's reasonable discretion, taking into account work completed. Clients are asked to raise any concern by email before initiating a payment dispute, so it can be resolved directly.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply to the client under the law of the client's place of residence.
These terms may be updated from time to time. The version number and effective date above identify the terms applicable to an order, which are the terms in effect on the date the quote is issued.
